Alex Foster is the founder and director of Foster’s Services, established in 2006, and EV Charging Systems, formed in 2021. Foster’s Services was initially created to further specialise in the healthcare and commercial electrical fields, and has since grown into a flexible multi-discipline electrical and communications service company. EV Charging Systems was formed in response to the growing demand from Foster’s Services’ client base for assistance with the rapid uptake of electric vehicle charging needs across customer sites.
Alex’s career as an electrician began in the late 1990s, and since then, he’s gained extensive experience in the commercial and healthcare electrical and communications industries, with a particular focus on Western Australia’s healthcare infrastructure. Alex has a strong grasp of the processes and requirements within the electrical industry, reflecting the needs of a modern commercial electrical contractor. His expertise spans various areas, including medical electrical systems, HV/LV electrical distribution, communications systems, EV charging, facility/asset maintenance, and project and contract management. He ensures that reactive and preventative maintenance problems are addressed with best practice and Australian Standards solutions, having been involved in numerous engineering-based issues across public and private facilities in Western Australia.
His technical credentials include an Associate Diploma in Electrical Engineering, complemented by specialised certifications in HV switching, communications, and various cabling disciplines, along with numerous vendor-specific communication courses. Additionally, Alex is a registered security agent and consultant, providing expert guidance on CCTV and security system installations. Alex’s commitment to industry excellence is evident through his active participation and leadership roles. He’s currently involved in the Australian Standards committee for medical electrical areas and working groups for skills transitions within the industry. He also holds influential positions as a Western Australia and national board member of Master Electricians Australia, representing the views of electrical contractors and the industry at both state and national levels. Alex is also an active board member of the Institute of Hospital Engineering Australia (WA Chapter).
With passion and enthusiasm, Alex supports clients on their ESG pathways and Net Zero fleet transitions through EV Charging Systems. Passionate about the industry, he’s an active member of several other EV-related organisations and is an electric vehicle driver himself.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alex is actively engaged in the community, holding leadership roles as President of Melville Palmyra Tennis Club, Board Member of Seton Catholic College, and President of Seton P&F. This combination of technical expertise, industry leadership, and community involvement has firmly established Alex Foster as a respected figure in Western Australia’s electrical and communications sector.
