The Charge Up Workplace Grant was created to help small to medium enterprises, non-profit organisations, and local government bodies seeking to add electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities in their workplace. The second round of funding has now been opened, and now includes DC charger support.
Everything you need to know about this second round:
- Round 2 is now open until June 30, 2024 (extended from the previous close date of May 3, 2024)
- The round 2 also includes faster DC chargers for up to 350kwW
- $12.5 Million in grant funding support available to small and medium businesses, local government authorities and not-for-profit organisations
- Funding support for up to 50% of EV charging hardware, software and install costs
- Available for both AC chargers and DC chargers

The Charge Up grant for installing EV chargers is aims to achieve the following:
- Boost EV adoption in Western Australia.
- Reduce impacts on the electricity system.
- Co-fund EV charging infrastructure at eligible locations.
Additionally, its other key objectives include:
- Increasing the availability of EV chargers.
- Encouraging daytime and off-peak EV charging.
- Facilitating the conversion of commercial fleets to EVs.
- Supporting the growth of a second-hand EV market.
- Enhancing connectivity between metropolitan and regional areas with fast charging stations at strategic locations.

Round Two of the grant funds:
- 50% of the purchase cost of Level 2 (7 to 22kW) or Level 3 (25 to 350kW) EV chargers allowing for up to 8 ports per site
- 50% of installation costs for EV chargers
- 50% of electricity network costs associated with the charger installation
- 50% of the cost of smart charging software for a period of two years
