About Round 3 of the Charge Up EV Charging Grants Program

The Western Australian Government’s Charge Up EV Charging Grants Program is now in its third round, offering co-funding to support the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the state. This initiative aims to encourage the adoption of EVs by reducing the costs associated with setting up charging stations.

Key Details of Round 3:

  • Application Period: Round 3 opened on 8 October 2024 and will close on 30 June 2025, or earlier if the available funding is fully allocated.

  • Funding Coverage: The program co-funds up to 50% of the costs for purchasing and installing EV chargers. Eligible applicants can install up to four chargers per site, with a maximum of five sites per applicant. The chargers can range from 7kW to 350kW in capacity.

  • Eligibility: The grants are available to not-for-profit organisations, small to medium enterprises (SMEs) with fewer than 200 employees, and local government authorities. Applicants must intend to use the EV chargers during daytime hours (9am to 5pm) or overnight (9pm to 9am) and install them at locations within Western Australia.

  • Funding Caps: Installation funding varies based on location and charger capacity:

    • Greater Perth Area: Up to $5,000 per site for chargers up to 150kW and up to $10,000 for chargers over 150kW.

    • Regional and Remote Areas: Up to $10,000 per site for chargers up to 150kW and up to $20,000 for chargers over 150kW.

This grant program presents a significant opportunity for organisations in Perth and Western Australia to support the transition to electric mobility by installing EV charging infrastructure, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting sustainable transportation.
